OUTWARD BOUND HONG KONG – IMPACT REPORT 2017

Outward Bound Hong Kong’s value chain has been built and strengthened through decades of growth. We strive to be ‘best in class’ for designing high impact programmes in Hong Kong.

HOW WE DEVELOP EMOTIONAL COMPETENCIES

The Outward Bound Trust programmes provide participants with a unique experience of adventure and learning in the wild that has proven emotional, psychological and social benefits, as well as health-related benefits. Independent research shows that the outcomes achieved during an outdoor learning programme are as a result of group interaction and challenge.

BENEFITS TO TEACHERS

How teachers benefit from accompanying their pupils on an Outward Bound course. Outward Bound Trust’s research indicates that teachers derive a range of benefits from accompanying their pupils on an Outward Bound course. This paper provides a summary of the evidence they currently have in their area.

THE LASTING IMPACT ON WORKPLACE BEHAVIOURS

In 2015, the Outward Bound Trust conducted a more in-depth evaluation involving a small number of apprentice programmes in order to assess the impact back in the workplace.

LASTING IMPACT

Young people are empowered to make positive changes in their lives and thrive in their education, their training and at work.

YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE MORE AWARE OF, AND CONNECTED WITH, THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Outward Bound Trust conducted an evaluation of seven 5-day Outward Bound courses delivered between May 2015 and June 2016. The course objectives, as well as achieving the John Muir Award at Discovery Level, included specific environmental outcomes (such as increased respect for the environment and learning about man’s environmental impact).
